Overview

Inside The Book

Yet, I have always been filled with bravery. I have perpetually held myself in esteem and continually navigated through life's challenges. The pain caused by someone wishing such ill fortune on a child is immense. However, it fueled my motivation to succeed and prove them wrong despite any obstacles that came my way. That incident served as one of the catalysts that propelled me forward. I believed in my potential to create better circumstances if given the chance. I knew I could fulfill aspirations like owning a car when I grew older, and thus, I strived for more.

It's common knowledge that there's a nationwide scarcity of nurses. While offering job stability, this scenario also implies that there aren't enough nursing professionals to perform essential duties. Often, this leads to nurses working extra hours due to insufficient staff. In instances where hospitals and other health institutions lack the requisite number of patient care experts for a specific shift, they might necessitate nurses to extend their working time or take on additional shifts.

I suggest that nurses seek professional advice from a financial expert regarding investing their earnings. Due to the demanding nature of their work, nurses should ensure they make wise investments for their current and future well-being. This may not always be the case despite our belief that our employers have our best interests at heart. If they genuinely cared, they would have already established ways to help nurses for their tireless contribution in offering their skills and efforts.

My lifestyle has evolved into one that is free of undue worries. While I am not irresponsible, I have developed a sense of security and preparedness. There was a time when I was caught in a storm without an umbrella, metaphorically speaking, but I have since arranged to ensure my family's well-being should my health fail me. This foresight and preparedness bring me immense comfort and peace.

In Rentless Pursuit, You Will Learn

From a tender age, an influencing factor in my life was a family that resided just a few houses away, a family deeply entwined with ours due to my father's extramarital relationship. My mother received harsh words from this woman who declared that my six siblings and I, likened to little pigs, would amount to nothing. Such a curse was placed upon me at such an innocent age.

At the young age of 13, my mother fulfilled her calling as a missionary. She was deeply spiritual, and this influenced my upbringing significantly. Even though I was born in the United States, I did not have the chance to spend my early years living in Haiti for two and a half years. However, I regard that as a unique learning opportunity, as it taught me invaluable lessons. The insights I gained from my time in Haiti were profound.

It's common knowledge that there's a nationwide scarcity of nurses. While offering job stability, this scenario also implies that there aren't enough nursing professionals to perform essential duties. Often, this leads to nurses working extra hours due to insufficient staff. Nurses often find themselves in challenging situations, facing criticism from patients and bearing the brunt of hospital mishaps. They shoulder significant responsibilities, yet their compensation, treatment, and retirement savings often do not reflect their true value to the healthcare institution. That's why I strongly advocate that as a nurse, I look for strategies to secure your financial future and acknowledge the hard work and dedication you put into your profession daily.

As a nurse constantly on the move, I found myself distanced from my home so often. Deep down, I knew this was not the life I desired. The thought of being away from home did not sit well with me. I hold my family in high regard. My love for my sisters is so profound that we even share a home. I also adore my children as part of my family. However, circumstances dictated that I had to leave because we had no assets. It was incumbent upon someone to make that sacrifice. I felt that responsibility fell on me.

I aim to be there for people in the community when they fall sick and are in good health. By doing so, I can help them understand that this is a contingency plan, a fallback option in case things go south for them. I've always wanted to engage in work that I love and do something that makes me feel good, knowing that what I'm doing is making a real difference.

I want to acknowledge my mother as a pivotal figure in my life, one who has shown exceptional leadership. Despite the adversities life threw at her, she never faltered. When her health posed significant hurdles, she tenaciously persevered and devoted her life to God. There were moments when she felt like she was on the brink of leaving her seven children behind. Yet, she pleaded with God for more time with her children, vowing to devote more of herself to His service.

At times, individuals may feel overawed when they see you, and consequently, their behavior may be off, or they might want to assert their resilience. Therefore, it's essential to allow individuals to reveal their true selves. The initial impression shouldn't be the sole determinant. I mention this because there have been instances where individuals have been harsh towards me initially. However, these same individuals later became cordial and imparted valuable lessons to me.

At present, it feels like the perfect moment. There was a time when I wouldn't say I liked revealing my age to people. Admitting I was 38 made me feel like I hadn't accomplished anything significant. It was the same when I was 30. However, I feel contentment knowing that I'm progressing towards my goal. I continually push myself to the limit and never hesitate when seizing new opportunities.

In this chapter, we've distilled the essence of each narrative to present you with seven transformative lessons. Derived from personal anecdotes and moments of profound realization, these lessons serve as beacons, illuminating our journey and empowering us to navigate with wisdom, grace, and resilience.
